Difficult Product Size and Shape

Products come in all shapes and sizes, making even what may seem to be simple conveyance a challenge. When Omni Metalcraft Corp. was approached with the need to convey bobbers through multiple machines and processes, we took the challenge on and teamed with Criterion Manufacturing to build a solution.

The Challenge: Conveying Odd Shaped Bobbers Through Several Processes

Criterion needed to convey beer can bobbers through a sleeving machine, a shrink wrapper, a quality control camera, a reject point for bad parts and finally a discharge for packaging. The challenge was the bobber had a long stem on the bottom not optimal for easy conveyance.

The Solution: Utilize Custom Bases And Modular Table Top Chain Conveyor

Criterion Manufacturing with the help of Omni Metalcraft Corp. came up with a UHMW machined base with a steel reinforced top that housed the bobber through all of the required processes. The smooth running Omni Modular Table Top Chain Conveyor using Intralox Series 4092 modular plastic chain and Solus Valu-Guide™ rails conveyed the holders. The open faced holder design allowing for easy discharge of the bobber when called for.
